Went birding today at the CT Audubon Society's Larson Sanctuary today
with James Randall:
Highlights were:

Winter Wren
Red-shouldered Hawk (flying with a snake in its beak!)
Cooper's Hawk and nest site
Eastern Kingbirds (seen throughout Deer Meadow)
Bank Swallow
Tree Swallow
Indigo Bunting (female)
TONS of Great Crested Flycatchers
Amazing looks at a male Scarlet Tanager feeding in the understory
Tons of Cedar Waxwings
Eastern Wood-Pewee (heard a ton, though we never connected with one)
(And all the other common woodland species, though we only saw one
warbler, Yellow)

Big Misses:

A really excellent day of birding!!!
