Sunday, 12 July 2009 -- From Frank Gallo, Vanessa Mickan, Chris Elphick.? Strong Rd, South Windsor.? We had close looks at 1 of the 2 singing Sedge Wrens from about 5:25 to 6:25 p.m.,?They were?along the dirt road, dividing the wet meadow, that parallels Strong Road 100 yards in from it.?Both wrens were singing.? There were also at least 6 Savannah Sparrows, 75 Bobolinks (1 flock of over 50), 15-20 Bank Swallows, 2 Green Herons, 1 Great Blue Heron, and 1 Bald Eagle.? Wood Thrush were singing from the woodlot nearby, as were N. Flickers, Red-bellied, and Downy Woodpeckers.

Simsbury:? Both adult Mississippi Kites were seen, and seem to be?incubating, rather than feeding young.? One is far more ratty looking than the other and has some brown feathers mixed in with the gray.
