Alex Burdo with Deanna Becker, James Orrico, and James Randall:

8/12 Hammonasset Beach SP:

Moraine Trail:
1 King Eider, 1 Surf Scoter, 2 Little Blue Heron, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper

Marsh Pond-Meig's Point Parking Lot: 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, 4 Greater
Yellowlegs, 1 Little Blue Heron, 1 Pectoral Sandpiper (Same Individual)

Willard's Island: Surprisingly Quiet, with the exception of a noisy
family of chickadees

Also of Note:
The Hundreds of Tree Swallows gathered on the Moraine Trail seemed a
bit early, at least in these numbers. Could this mean a bad winter is
on the horizon?

A quick stop at Silver Sands yielded no White-faced Ibis-or any Ibis
at all for that matter.

The fact that the King Eider is still there is very surprising.
Although this individual is not ready to breed and in many duck
species non-breeders in the breeding season disperse; it seems odd
that this one is so far south.

Another nice day of birding!
