Red-headed Woodpecker still present as of Sunday, August 16. Seems there was an inquiry about it not too long ago. Location: ~ 0.1 mi north on Tranquility Rd from the intersection of Tranquility Rd & CT-64 in Middlebury. We had a good view the bird as it flew across the road from east to west into an area of private property not accessible to the public. Also at the same location a Chestnut-sided Warbler, several Eastern Bluebirds, and just beyond the pond along Spring St a very vocal Red-shouldered Hawk. A word of caution: Tranquility Rd can be quite busy - best bet is to go early and park a short distance up (and off the side) of the road then walk to and from the intersection, listening for woodpecker activity and checking snags. There was a Red-bellied Woodpecker in the area as well.
