Mark your calendars for Sunday September 27th for the annual Lighthouse Point Park Migration Festival.
Lighthouse Point Park Migration Festival
Sunday, Sep 27 8:00a to 3:00p
Lighthouse Point Park, East Haven, CT
Come celebrate migrating birds and butterflies at New Haven's Lighthouse Point Park. Live hawk and owl demonstrations, bird banding (see wild birds up close), butterfly and bird walks, lighthouse tours, carousel rides, kids activities, live music, fun for the whole family. There will be a COA hawks in flight seminar as part of the activities again this year.
More details and a complete schedule of events can be found here:
This is always a great event as evidenced by photos from past festivals, which can be found here (on my Facebook page, but you should be able to view them even if you don't have a FB account)
This year, there will be a $10 per car suggested donation, so carpooling is the green and economical option. This is voluntary, but I hope that all who can afford it will give what they can. All proceeds will go towards next year's festival. In addition to supporting next year's event this will also help to illustrate that birding can be a strong economic engine.
This year's festival was supported in part by a $5,000 grant from Audubon Connecticut through the IBA Matching Grants Program. Lighthouse Point Park is an Important Bird Area.
