I spent much of today 8/20, scouring the Milford Point / Stratford / Housatonic River area in search of yesterday's Am. Avocet and Marbled Godwit. I saw neither, but did see the following:
8/20 Milford Point 8:30-11:15 - 1 WHIMBREL (migrating southwest over salt marsh), 1 RED KNOT, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 8 GLOSSY IBIS, 8 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON
8/20 Stratford, Housatonic River south of Birdseye St. boatramp 3:30-5pm - female LONG-TAILED DUCK, 2000 Semipalmated Sandpipers.
8/20 Stratford, Short Beach, 1:30pm - 2 adult BLACK SKIMMERS, 1 COMMON LOON in breeding plumage (in river).
