[CT Birds] Ruddy Shelduck in Hamden

8/24/09 about 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Hamden, north end of Lake Whitney, viewed with binoculars and scopes 
from Greenway Street and from the Waite Street causeway.
	RUDDY SHELDUCK dabbling, resting, and preening near other 
waterfowl (Canada Geese, Mallards, Gadwall and Wood Ducks).   The 
bird was sometimes in open water, sometimes entirely or partially 
hidden by vegetation.  Nancy Rosenbaum and I couldn't see any bands 
on the legs when it was dabbling.
