Sea turtles topic of August 27 lecture at Sherwood Island State Park

The fifth in a series of Thursday-evening environmental lectures will be held on August 27 at 6:30 pm at the new Nature Center at Sherwood Island State Park. The lectures are free, and after 6:00 entrance to the park is free.

Naturalist Alan Berman will talk about sea turtles and the conservation issues surrounding them. He will tell about these ancient and endangered species and the people working to save them from extinction. He will share knowledge and experience gained coordinating a sea turtle project in Costa Rica.

The Nature Center is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm. Each day there are scheduled activities for children led by the Center's naturalists and summer interns, as well as nature walks for all. The Center is a partnership between the CT Department of Environmental Protection and the Friends of Sherwood Island State Park.
