The Southport Survey Covers the Fairfield Shore from Sunken Island
off Beach Rd. to Southport Beach. This Survey has been run since 2005
from October to April. and the past few years included August to
September. The goal is to provide quantitate data for future
reference. Currently it provides a picture of what is on the sound
and one can see the flow of life through time. When making comparison
be sure to note differences in tide.

Southport Survey # 190
The most unusual bird of the survey was the Green-winged Teal.
Usually they don’t show up until December when they get frozen out of
freshwater ponds. The first Immature Ring-billed Gull was seen today.
