8/30 New Haven, Lighthouse Point - 5 hours on the hawk watch produced 29 raptors of 5 sps, including 24 Ospreys, 2 N. Harriers and a Merlin. A heavy swallow flight was highlighted by c 50 PURPLE MARTINS, including 17 on wires at one time, and a conservative 400 Barn Swallows, 100 Tree Swallows, 30 Bank Swallows and 15 Cliff Swallows, as well as c 250 Chimney Swifts. We only had 4 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and surprisingly no Eastern Kingbirds.
Other flyovers included 5 sps of shorebirds including 1 WHIMBREL; 170 BOBOLINKS and 140 Cedar Waxwings. On the ground were 6 sps of warblers including Nashville and N Waterthrush.
