9/20 Naugatuck, Naugatuck S. F. (Hunters Mt section) - 14 sps of warblers including adult male GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER. Also 3 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, 1 SWAINSON'S THRUSH, 2 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, 2 PURPLE FINCHES. Indicative of the move into the next phase of migration was the presence of c. 6 Blue-headed Vireo, a couple Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler and a few White-throated Sparrows.

I was there from 7 to 11 a.m. but almost all of the migrants were seen in a half-hour movement at the big field on top of the mt, and about an hour movement on the powerline that crosses the road heading toward the river. The Golden-winged was in a wave on the powerline and nowhere near the spot where one had been territorial in recent years (but apparently not this year). Total 52 sps.

Note if you visit - don't be alarmed by the sound of gunfire heard from near the powerline. There's a public shooting range nearby that is very safely situated and operated by a responsible association.
