[CT Birds] Milford Pt sparrows, shorebirds

10/26/09 -- Milford Point, Francis Street spit and nearby sandbars -- On a warm, calm afternoon 300 gurgling Brant with about 500 shorebirds, mostly Dunlin, Sanderling, Black-bellied Plovers with many Greater and a few Lesser Yellowlegs.  Also 3 Semipalmated Sandpipers, 2 Least Sandpipers, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, 1 Wilson's Snipe.  In the Spartina, quite a few Sharp-tailed Sparrows: at least 5 Nelson's (2 very pale), 1 prob. Saltmarsh.  Also, 1 Seaside Sparrow with a few Savannahs, Swamp, Song.  On the sand, 15 Snow Buntings, 1 Horned Lark.  3 Common Loon offshore.
