To illustrate a classic case of "whatever I am doing, I am also birding,"
a family of four Bald Eagles, two adults, two first-year juveniles, circled
overhead while I was doing yard work. They were briefly joined by a RT
Hawk and SS Hawk.
The Sharp-shinned Hawk proceeded to perform a dive into our back yard that
would have made a Peregrine Falcon take notice. Fortunately for our
feeder birds, he missed his target.
The SS Hawks pass through or over-winter in this area; a family of Cooper's
 Hawks is in residence, year-round.
