An active and vocal Orange-crowned Warbler was present along the north
edge of East Shore Park in New Haven, along with a "Western" Palm
Warbler and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet around midday today. Now that the
temperatures should be falling, this area may become more attractive
to insectivores as the warm pools keep insects alive well into the
cold season. Also seen were apparently migrating Red-tailed Hawk and
Cooper's Hawk, which were on their way west across the harbor. In the
harbor were 85 Black Ducks, 4 Gadwall, and a RB Merganser.
MacKenzie Reservoir in Wallingford held 17 Green-winged Teal.
I took a quick look with bins at Pistapaug Pond and saw 2 Common
Mergansers on the Durham (far) side of the pond among Ruddy Ducks and
