New Haven Harbor was very birdy today; lots of gulls and waterfowl. As
seen from the West Haven boat launch:
215 Brant
5 Gadwall
70 Mallard
40 Am Black Ducks
2 Canvasback (with scaup)
495 Greater Scaup
45 Bufflehead
2 Hooded Merg (f)
2 RB Merg
1 Common Loon
2 RT Loon
3 Horned Grebe
also, many Herring and Ring-billed Gulls

A Killdeer was at the Oyster River at the Milford/WH line, along with
many Herring and Ring-billed Gulls. The Herring Gulls were chowing
down on starfish...I saw several dozen being consumed around low tide
at the mouth of the river.

As reported by others, several flocks of migrating Canada Geese. I
counted 438, all moving WSW.
