[CT Birds] where are the COOTS?

Paul,
There have been up to 5 coots recently at the Stratford Boat Ramp. This is a regular place, and a normal number. Down our way they often seem to favor coastal marinas/boatdocks. Another site where they usually occur is at the Veterans Park boat ramp in Norwalk, though I haven't checked there this season.

Subject: [CT Birds] where are the COOTS?

Someone recently mentioned about the scarcity of COOTs seen this year here in CT.
I saw only one this fall and haven't seen mention of many others so far this year. Even Bantam Lake in Litchfield has only had a few, and this is a spot that usually has many each fall. Does Dave Rosgen have any comment to this?
Any ideas where they all are this year?
