Quiet day, but a few nice birds to see in the new snow with not much wind
on the railroad trail:
Northern Harrier stretching and preening in a low tree branch
Belted Kingfisher
Black Ducks and Hooded Mergansers
Savannah Sparrows in the low grasses on trail edge
about a dozen American Tree Sparrows feeding on the phragmites
seeds...acting almost like goldfinches and calling with a melodic tweeting
in the lawn behind the warehouses, a solitary Kildeer bobbing away
Great way to start the New Year!
Chris Nevins
