1/11 New London, 7:30 a.m. departure New London-Orient, N.Y., ferry - 5 RAZORBILLS crossed in front of bow in tight flock 20 minutes out. (It's an 80-minute trip, about half in CT and half in NY waters); on return trip in CT waters one adult N. GANNET and one probable RAZORBILL flying away from us toward mouth of Thames estuary. Very few gulls and no sign of kittiwakes. As noted previously by Frank Mantlik, who did have kittiwakes, the walk-on round-trip fare is $25. The boat is very comfortable with seats, tables and food concession inside. Needless to say it can be very cold outside looking for birds.
