"My Patch" (to use a Luke Tiller term) is a deciduous woodland behind the Old Bethany Airport.  There are even old angle-iron landing light stands, 75 feet into the woods.  It is not very birdy, but it is very close to home.  Browsing deer allow for off-trail hiking.
Today in a mostly frozen moss-covered seep, I saw a tail-bobbing LBJ.  It turned out to be a mid winter Hermit Thrush.
