Southport Survey # 216
There was a northwest wind, very unpleasant, but the water calm
compared to the middle of the sound. The tide was mid going low.
Birds were few and distant. There was a couple of flocks of Goldeneye
and a scattering of Long-tails.

The golf course ponds remained frozen and the harbor was completely
frozen except by the bridge. The open area contained the geese and
Hooded Mergansers. At Southport Beach the gulls were huddled out of
the wind on the east side while the Black Ducks and frields were
working the mouth of the creek.

I made a stop at Burying Hill Beach
Funny, just around the corner one gets different proportions. There
were a lot more Long-tailed Duck and Common Loon off shore and more
Geese in the creek. . The Brant wee feeding in the rocks at the east
end of the beach.
