Around 20 intrepid observers joined Maxson and me for the COA Gull Identification Workshop at the Windsor/Bloomfield Landfill today. Among the ~1,200 gulls were a first/second cycle GLAUCOUS GULL, ( find them hard to age when they're as white as this one was, judge for yourself here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3479740&l=6a8a963f5c&id=730539479 ), 2 adult ICELAND GULLS and at least 1 first cycle ICELAND. Patrick Dugan found a bird that was a good candidate for a 2nd cycle backcross 'Nelson's' X Herring Gull, i.e. GlaucousXHerring X Herring. Adult BALD EAGLES made a couple of passes over the landfill.
