I went out to check on the receding ice on the local reservoirs
Easton, Hemlock Reservoir: On February 27 the lower third was open.
Today the lower third was still open and the rest of the reservoir
had open patches.
Canada Goose 7, Bufflehead 1, Hooded Merganser 14, Common Merganser 21
Easton, Aspetuck Reservoir: On February 27 it was open around the dam
and above Center St. there was a pair of Canada Geese and 30 Wood
Ducks at the north end Today the reservoir was completely open except
for one small patch.
Canada Goose 27, Mute Swan 2, Wood Duck 6, American Black Duck 2,
Mallard 14, Ring-necked Duck 49, Bufflehead 22, Hooded Merganser 2,
Shelton, Trap Falls Reservoir: On February 27 the entire reservoir
was frozen except for a small patch around by the fountain where
there where a couple of Canada Geese. Today the entire area around
the fountain was open. There were open patches around the islands and
a couple of larger patch on the north side.

Shelton, Means Brook Reservoir: On February 27 the entire reservoir
was frozen. Today, the quarter by the inflow was open.
