[CT Birds] Belated post - from 4-7-10

After the NHBC BW I stopped at Long Beach in Stratford. It took  me 20 
minutes to ID them because I'd never seen their summer plumage  before, but 
there were at least 100 Oldsquaw (Long-tailed Ducks if you  must)  off the 
beach.  Never saw that many at one time.  They  were spread out over about 1/8 
mile that I could see.  Also one gorgeous -  and tame - all white Glaucous 
Gull on the beach.
At the  warehouse pond there were 4 Green-winged Teal and  several 
Boat-tailed Grackles, one pair of which were mating in the phrags in the  middle of 
the pond when I arrived.
