4/22 Harkness SP in Waterford and Rocky Neck SP in Niantic
If I had to characterize today's birding, I would call it "the invasion of
the chipping sparrows'. Both locales had many doing their mechanical
trill. They are such a beautiful, crisply plumaged bird.
Other birds of interest at Harkness:
4 piping plovers (I saw only 2; two DEP employees who were there said they
counted 4 and were a bit disappointed, as last year there were 6)
6 common loon all in breeding plumage
20 brant
1 e. towhee
3 n. flickers
2 osprey
1 great egret
at Rocky Neck:
1 blue-gray gnatcatcher
1 phoebe
3 osprey
1 great egret, 1 snowy egret
1 n. flicker
