5/5, Sherwood Island, Westport (11:30a-12:30p)-
Grasshopper still present as of 12:15p in previously reported spot. If the main main/west?) pavilion is at you back, you are facing due north, there is a lawn with picnic benches and some deciduous trees. In the lawn, neat the lot, is a quite large old stump... to use as reference. The bird didn't sing, or chip. It was in a group of about 8 sparrows, 4 species (1 Grasshopper, 3 Chipping, 1 White-crown, and 3 Savannah). A rather accepting bird until you move. It should allow great photos, though mine are sub-par.
Other birds seen (only did that lawn, East end marshes and circle trail, and airplane field):
(2) Snowy Egret(1) GB Heron(5) Glossy Ibis(3) DC Cormorants (fly-overs)(2) Osprey(1) Field Sparrow (heard near sign '#3')(1) White-crowned Sparrow(3+) Chipping Sparrows (I could hear them all over the place)(1) Black-throated Blue Warbler (FOY)(1) Yellow-throated Vireo (lawn area; FOY)(2) N. Parula(1) Yellow warbler(2) Thrashers(1) Veery (FOY)(2) Catbirds(2) Snipe (near airplane field)(4) Willet(1) G. Yellowlegs(1) Spotted sandpiper (FOY)(2) E. Meadowlarks (grass on south side of marsh near airplane field..same spot as the Snipe)
