5/16- Wilton-across from Allen's Meadows at the "restoration area" - 8 S0LITARY SANDPIPERS,5 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS,13 LEAST SANDPIPERS,5 GREATER YELLOWLEGS.This spot was fantastic.They are still doing construction,I think,in this area, but it appears to be a "magnet" for shorebirds.Thanks to Mike Warner for bringing it to our attention!

 

5/17 - Southport - Southport Beach -69 RUDDY TURNSTONES,2 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS,1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER,1 LEAST SANDPIPER,3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS,1 GREAT BLUE HERON,2 GREAT EGRETS,3 SNOWY EGRETS


         Westport-Grace Salmon Park-100+ LEAST SANDPIPERS,2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS,8 GREATER YELLOWLEGS,1 ORCHARD ORIOLE. Finally the shorebirds have returned here after being almost nonexistent this year.

 

            BURYING HILL BEACH- 3 LONG-TAILED DUCKS,1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER,5 SNOWY EGRETS,2 GREAT EGRETS

      

            E.R.Strait Marina-1 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON,1 SPOTTED SANDPIPER

 

            Compo Beach-2 COMMON TERNS,4 OYSTERCATCHERS

 

            Sherwood Island SP-1 NORTHERN PARULA,AMERICAN REDSTARTS,WARBLING VIREOS,HOUSE WRENS,3 GLOSSY IBIS,3 BROWN THRASHERS,3 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS,COMMON YELLOWTHROAT,YELLOW WARBLER,BLACK & WHITE WARBLER,MAGNOLIA WARBLER,WILLETS were the only shorebirds today.
