 Hi All,

On the Sunrise Birding walk at Trout Brook Valley we stumbled upon a singing male Blue Grosbeak. This looked to be a first spring bird with just the chestnut wing bars and a little blue wash. The bird was in the orchard area right at the entrance gate where the Swallow-tailed Flycatcher generally eluded viewing last year. Trout Brook is a great spot for both migrant and interesting breeding birds. Considering how underbirded the site is, Swallow-tailed Flycatcher, Mississippi Kite and Blue Grosbeak makes a pretty good haul of southern specialties over recent years.

Good birding,

Luke Tiller, Greenwich
