[CT Birds] The Devil's Mockingbird

Hi Joe.
This brings to mind the Seinfeld episode with the Indian Restaurant..."mocking, mocking, mocking, always with the mocking..." Sorry, I digress. All night mockingbirds-

According to the CT DEP this is one of THE most common "animal nuisance" complaints in this State.
It's possible that your neighborhood has the unfortunate combination of light pollution and and an un-mated male mocker in hormonal over-drive. IOW the bird thinks it's always dawn and that if he keeps on mocking he's got a chance for a girlfriend. That, anyway, is my admittedly unprofessional opinion.

I love Mockingbirds. My wife wants to kill one.

Every spring and summer we get a resident mocker here in Meriden which is incessant from morning 'til dusk. It rattles off phoebes, wrens, blue jays, killdeer, nuthatches, red-tailed hawk, pewees, robins and just recently added prairie warbler to its repertoire. A very impressive bird.

But as I was going to bed last night, at 12:30 am there he was...going at it again!!

Why does this guy haunt the neighborhood so? An eveil bird indeed for those that get annoyed easily.
