There was a 2nd summer Lesser Black-backed Gull standing on a sandbar in
the Housatonic River between Stratford and Milford at low tide earlier
today. I viewed the bird from the Stratford side of the river at the former gun
club at the river's mouth. That location is usually open during the day on
Mondays thru Fridays until about 5 PM. Or, you could view the sandbars at
low tide from Short Beach in Stratford, although there is a fee for
non-residents of Stratford at this time of the year.
Also observed on the river were about 20 Great Egrets, 10 Snowy Egrets and
about 30 Common Terns.
