Subject: Cockenoe Terns

6/25/10/Cockenoe Island, Westport. CT.

LEAST TERNS are renesting, at least forty birds on nest, they are now also using the northern end of the sand spit.
COMMON TERNS are now showing off a few hatchlings, there also seems to be more of these terns on the island. In total there are over three hundred terns flying about.
OYSTERCATCHER chicks are now sporting adult plummage, though still with dark bills.
I see that several of this species are also renesting. No other shorebird species were seen.
OSPREY chicks are up and about on the many nest around the islands.
