Southport Survey # 231 This is the first survey of the season.

At the mouth of Pine Creek there was a lot of activity. A school of
sand eels seemed to be trapped in the shallows on an out going tide.
The Cormorants where in the water cutting off their escape. The
Herons were wading around the edge and the Terns provided air
support. A new species for the survey was an Imm. Yellow-crowned
Night-Heron. There was a great increase in Ring-billed Gulls joining
the festivities and, my first hatch year bird. The Canada Geese were
a flock roosting on shore north of Harbor Rd. At the mouth of Sasco
Beach along with most of the Mallards.
