8/11 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 10AM-1PM
sunny, 85, low tide rising.
At 10AM all 6 osprey family members were in and on the nest or on the
perch.
Adult F. was munching on her fish on the perch; 4 juveniles on the nest,
2 eating their own fish; one flew around the nest area with a fish in its
talons, being chased by another.
At 10:40AM 3 juveniles were on the nest, 2 of them with fish as the adult
female continued eating her own fish on the perch.
At noon, 4 juveniles were on the nest as one tried to snatch a fish from
underneath a sibling. Very interesting interactions between the ospreys as
they vie for each others' fish. Most of the morning their wings were
drooping and outstretched.
Also seen this morning were 4 Purple Martins at the nest box, numerous
house sparrows, house finches, red winged blackbirds, mourning doves, grackles,
 starlings, 1 Great egret, 1 Snowy egret, 1 fly-by D.C. Cormorant, 1 mute
swan, 12 Black ducks, an adult mockingbird with a juvenile,
2 cardinals, at least 3 monk parakeets heard and seen at bird feeders by
entrance, possibly more in the trees, several barn swallows flying around
marsh.
