We regularly see gulls insect-catching at Lighthouse Point during the hawk watch. It usually occurs later in the afternoon on a warm day early in the fall season. The species primaily involved, as noted by Scott from Stratford Point, are Ring-billed Gulls and Laughing Gulls. And the Mormons didn't build a statute of the California Gull because it forages around dumpsters :)
