[CT Birds] Stonington Breakwater, Quiambaug Cove

7:00-7:20AM - Quiambaug Cove - 1 Green Heron; 1 Coopers Hawk harried by and harrying 6 American Crow; 4 Herring Gull; 1 Belted Kingfisher; continuous stream (60 in five minutes) of Tree Swallow running across the south end of the Cove, eastward, 10-30 ft altitude, still running eastward at the same pace on return at 9:00AM, but at higher altitude (50-100ft)
8:00-8:30AM - Off Stonington SE breakwater, North Winds 5-10mph: 30 Common Eider rafting off the breakwater - females and 1st winter males, no adult males; Roosting on the breakwater - 25 Double-crested Cormorant; 19 American Oystercatcher; 3 Ruddy Turnstone; 5 Semi-palmated Sandpiper; 5 Least Sandpiper; 3 Laughing Gull (two juvenile); 5 Herring Gull; 1 Great Black-backed Gull.
Very few seabirds off the water south of the breakwater, no surface baitfish (nor rising stripers or blues), none of the birds called yesterday as Greater Shearwater seen.
