Loaded the thistle sock this morning, the suet box, and the feeder yesterday. This afternoon the area was abuzz,
20 American Goldfinch (males now starting to molt, juveniles looking drab but clearly their parents' kids), 3 Mourning Dove, 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbird prowling a late blooming wigela, 2 Downy Woodpecker, 2 Carolina Wren (resident, raised two broods and often hang out on the porch in the evening and pick off moths attracted to the porchlight), 4 Black-capped Chicakdees, 2 Gray Catbird, 3 Cedar Waxwing picking raspberries, 7 Northern Cardinal, and 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk hanging back and watching the feeder (no meals for it so far), 2 Osprey hovering over the cove.
