[CT Birds] Westport sightings-Western Sandpiper & American Golden Plover

9/15/10 - Westport - Compo Beach (6:30-7:00am) - 1 WESTERN SANDPIPER (juv),1 AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER (juv),1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS,1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS,51 RUDDY TURNSTONES,25 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS,6 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS,11 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS,5 LEAST SANDPIPERS,18 AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHERS
Both the Western Sandpiper and the American Golden Plover were in the wrack line on the sound side by the cannons along with a few of the Semipalmated Sandpipers.I was able to hear the plover's flight call when it flew off.Most of the other birds were on the beach that faces west and the Oystercatchers did a fly by.
Note:You still need a sticker to get into Compo Beach until Oct.1
