Here's a summary of the COA Sparrow Workshop at Silver Sands S.P., Milford, CT
on Sun. Oct 3, 2010. About 45 people were in attendance, including leaders Greg
Hanisek, Frank Gallo, Charlie Barnard, Patrick Dugan, Tina Green, and me. The
large group broke into smaller groups and the park was covered pretty
thoroughly. As a result some numbers are estimates.

Subject: eBird Report - Silver Sands SP , 10/3/10

Location: Silver Sands SP
Observation date: 10/3/10
Notes: This was The CT Ornithological Association Annual Sparrow Workshop.
A great turnout on this cool blustery windy day. 50-63 degrees F, wind NE
15-20, mostly cloudy. Surprisingly few sparrows in number and variety (5
species), given the date and favorable nw winds overnight. However, the raptors
kept us looking skyward as well as along the ground. Highlights were Green
Heron (late), 2 Bald Eagles, Peregrine, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, E. Phoebes
everywhere, Am. Pipit. Overall a great day afield with many old and new
friends. Thanks to all the co-leaders. Frank Mantlik
