[CT Birds] 11/12 -- Hammonasset - American Bittern, Purple Sandpipers, late dragonflies

11/12/10 - Madison, Hammonasset State Park -- AMERICAN  BITTERN, 
RING-NECKED PHEASANT (male), GREEN-WINGED TEAL (female) (all three of  these at or 
around the Swan Pond); 6+ PURPLE SANDPIPERS on the rocks at Meig's  Point.  
Also 3 Autumn Meadowhawks (Sympetrum vicinum)- very cold looking  dragonflies 
trying to warm up in the morning sun.
 
Another nice morning at Hammonasset!
 
Having seen (twitched) an American Bittern in Cornwall, England last week,  
it was nice to see one on my home patch  Scroll down on this web site to
