I've had a Saw-whet, very recently, at one of my usual Bethany riparian haunts.
...and I've a Great Horned calling away in my neighborhood, tonight!
For those birding beginners interested in owling and especially in the important subject of owling etiquette, check out Pat and Clay Sutton's book, How to Spot an Owl.

Took a ride around Barkhamsted this evening (~1 hour!) and tallied 5 Saw-Whets and one Screech Owl. Given the reports of a good banding season up north and west and this evening's results, it's shaping up to be a good year for them in CT.
This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut.
