Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center
9:40AM-1PM. sunny, 75-80 mid tide receding.
On LIS side were 200+ Semipalmated sandpipers, 1 Willet, BB Plovers, 2
great egrets and some dunlin.
At the Purple Martin condo it was quite active and noisey. 10 Purple
Martins seen, and there may be more but they were flying around alot so it
was hard to tell.
The female osprey has 2 chicks so far. She was feeding them at 10AM. The
blue plastic is right where they sit and she seems to be sitting on it too.
10:45AM the male brought in another fish and he was feeding them. Then he
sat on camera before departing again. Female was on the nest.
11:25AM male brought in another fish with no head. He was feeding the
female and then she fed the chicks.
At 12:40PM a lone osprey flew over which started a big commotion of
squawking before it left.
On the marsh & grounds were brant, D.C. Cormorants, semipalmated sandpipers,
dunlin, mute swans, Great Egrets, snowy egret, Black bellied plovers and a
pair of Gadwalls (believed to be nesting in area)
Song sparrows, male Baltimore oriole, house sparrows, cardinals, mourning
doves, common grackles, Red winged Blackbirds and a female Orchard Oriole.
Robin nest is empty-babies probably got eaten.
