7/20 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 80-85, sunny, very low
tide, rising
11 Purple martins were seen at the Martin condo, along with 2 chicks poking
their heads out to get fed.
At 10AM, the female osprey was on the perch, with all 3 chicks on the nest,
flapping their wings. One chick was feeding itself a fish, and the other
two were trying to eat some of the fish on their own. At 10:33AM one osprey
juvenile was flying around the marsh, very well. It seemed it was herding
the 200 or so "peeps" that were on the mudflats.

The peeps kept scattering as the osprey came in low. The other two
juveniles were observing their sibling very carefully.
At 11:25AM the female osprey was feeding the juveniles, but mainly the
juveniles were feeding on their own very well.
One of the juvenile ospreys took another flight around the marsh.
Several turtles seen on the mudflats.
Other species viewed were Snowy egrets, Great egrets, . D.C. Cormorants,
mockingbirds, robins, cardinals, common grackles, mourning doves (so sign of
white winged dove), catbirds, starlings, mute swans,
Great blue heron-far out, Least terns, 2 Greater yellowlegs and a fly by
Black crowned night heron.
