8/10 Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, Milford
10AM-12noon. high tide, receding, sunny, 80.
At 10AM all three juvenile ospreys were on the nest (getting crowded)
calling incessantly-but no parent showed up with a fish. At 10:45AM an
osprey flew by with a fresh killed fish in its talons but continued flying
past the nest. At 11AM all 3 juveniles took off, soaring around the
marsh; two of them were occasionally "bumping" into each other in flight.
At 11:35AM one juvenile returned to the nest with a fish and was eating it.
Second osprey was eating some scraps of the blue plastic on the nest (not
good) and 3rd juvenile was on the perch.
Other birds seen were 10 Purple Martins at the martin condo, with one
juvenile visible; mourning doves, house sparrows, catbirds, tree swallows,
 mockingbirds & starlings-eating viburnum berries, common grackles;
2 Common terns, mute swans and DC Cormorant-fly by.
