[CT Birds] 8/11 - Sandy Point (Upland SP, Marbled Godwit, White-rumped SP)

An hour early this morning at Sandy Point was productive with a flyby
calling UPLAND SANDPIPER, adult WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER, the continuing
MARBLED GODWIT and a rather out-of-place PIED-BILLED GREBE. Shorebird
numbers overall were down from one week ago, but more variety and
increasing numbers of the later migrants. There were many juveniles in
evidence today of Least Sandpiper, Lesser Yellowlegs, and Short-billed
Dowitcher...plus a single juv Semipalmated Sandpiper (my first of the

Still a few dozen Least Terns around, and a small flock of Common
Terns including several juveniles were hanging around the jetty.
