Southport Survey # 270
16 Aug 2011

The tide was low with the rocks and bar exposed. The water was calm
and the sky overcast.

Off shore there were a few Laughing Gulls concentrated in a few
patches. half were first year birds. The sunken island had more gulls
and a couple of cormorants. Most of the action was on the beaches.
The Snowies were in the tidal pools While most of the Great Egrets
were around the rocks at the base of the bluffs.

Southport Harbor contained the Semipalm Sands. and half of the
Semipalm Plovers, and half the Mallards.
History shows I always get peeps and plovers at this time

At Southport Beach. The Black Duck and the rest of the Mallards were
at the mouth of Sasco Creek along with a large number Great Black-
backed Gulls. The rest of the Semipal Plovers were on the flats.
