>From Charlie Barnard (with Julian Hough and Bill Van Loan)
9/10 - Milford Point

2 Royal Terns (juvenile and an adult - first spotted by Julian), 1 Caspian
Tern and 14 Black Skimmers. Relatively few Common Terns remained today. The
Royal Terns and the Caspian Tern moved through quickly; they rested for only
a matter of minutes. A Peregrine Falcon which passed over may have
contributed to the terns brief stay.

Shorebirds included the American Avocet, at least 12 Red Knots, a Whimbrel,
at least 2 juvenile Western Sandpipers, 2 White-rumped Sandpipers and a
Pectoral Sandpiper. Other shorebirds, such as Black-bellied Plovers,
Short-billed Dowitcher, Semipalmated Sandpipers and Least Sandpipers have
noticebly declined in numbers over the course of the week.
