[CT Birds] Active Day at Hammonasset

10/7/11- Madison, Hammonasset S. P. - Two juvenile TRICOLORED HERONS, in a  
group of Great Egrets, continue in the Tidal Pool on the opposite side of  
the parking area from the Nature Center.  In the parking area itself  one 
AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER in a flock of some 30 Black Bellies.  At the  beginning 
of the Willard Island Trail, one juvenile Baltimore Oriole.  Then  from the 
causeway looking west, three NELSONS SPARROWS and two SEASIDES.   Following 
the Willard Island Trail further, several different species of  warblers - 
BT Green, Chestnut-Sided, Parula, Redstart, &Yellow-Rump. Dozens  of Golden 
Crowned Kinglets and one Ruby Crown. At the end of the Trail, near the  
observation platform, a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO.
Later, at the western end of the park, just past the West Beach parking lot 
 in a puddle on the right side of the road: two STILT SANDPIPERS, some 6  
WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, one PECTORAL, and a number of Western.  Between  
8:30 and 10:30 am.
