10/15/11: Milford, Mondo Pond-two Dowitcher, species, roosting on a rock at
the north end of the pond, with about 30 Greater Yellowlegs. I believe the
two dowitchers are long-billed: one is a non-breeding adult with a very long
bill, gray chest, and fine barring and spotting on the flanks. The second
bird is a juvenile with a dull gray breast and narrow rusty edges to the
scapular feathers. Neither bird called and they did not have humped backs.
So, pending further ID: two probable LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS. There were
also two Pied-billed Grebes in the pond.
