Location is Guilford. Most of my snow is melted with the exception of very small patches of snow/ice in shaded areas on the lawn. Today a group of 5 young cedar waxwings were picking at these snow patches and appeared to be eating the snow/ice. I do have two sources of fresh water for the birds so I am puzzled by this behavior. Everything is cleaned and other birds enjoy the moving water of the fountains.....any input?
