Your bird is a Semiplamated Sandpiper moulting out of juvenile plumage. We 
don't see too many of these at this time of year, since most have departed 
for southern climates.
Semipalmated's don't moult generally until they reach winter quarters 
(unlike Sanderling) so this bird is worn and retains some of the dark juv. 
feathers on the upperparts.
