Calling all birders! Want to improve you bird identification skills and gain knowledge on creating, restoring, and protecting bird habitat? Are you looking for opportunities to use your skills for the benefit of bird conservation? Consider participating in the Audubon Connecticut Master Bird Conservation Program.  Through this 4 day workshop, participants will:
*           Gain knowledge on bird species of conservation concern.
*           Attend talks on conservation strategies and programs that range from global to those you can apply in your own backyard. Speakers include Bill Labich of Highstead, Marjorie Shansky of Yale University, Joan Morrison of Trinity University, CT DEEP wildlife biologist Jenny Dickson, and others.
*           Receive training in field ornithology techniques, such as bird surveys, bird banding, birding by ear, etc.
The program will take place on Feb. 22nd, Mar. 7th, Mar. 21st, and Apr. 4th from 9 - 5 pm.   The first three days of the workshop will be held at Bridgeport City Hall Annex, the last day will involved field trips to Important Bird Areas. The program is free, but participants will be required to commit to 20 hours of volunteer service participating in citizen science programs, educational outreach activities or conservation advocacy.
